Received an email Amazon about an e-book gifted from a good Friend. The title is Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I did not paid much attention to it as I was having problem downloading the e-book onto my kindle due to the region settings.
However, for someone to give a book. It only means that this book is means something to that person. Since I’m unable to read it on a kindle, I tied it loan it via our NLB app.
The book started with a few pictures of seagulls. At this time, I’m still unable to relate it to the title because I’m thinking this book is some sort of a biography of a person.
Few pages in, I realised this book was writing about a seagull. A seagull that was different, one that have an interest in flying something that a usual seagull would take granted for. How to fly better.
You see,my friend knows that I’m an aspiring entrepreneur so at this stage, I’m assuming this is a sort of motivational book that encourage you to be different, be the change and take that step forward.
Well the book is more than a motivation self-help. At the early stage, it talks about Jonathan frustrated with the meaningless materialism, and conformity. Pretty much sums up my life right now. Working to make a living but my heart is elsewhere thinking about building my own business. Soon Jonathan takes the plunge, leaves the pack and went off. He went too be so good at flying till no seagulls can ignore him. He then joins a pack of fellow like-minded seagulls who enjoy flying. There he learns about “letting go”. Jonathan understands that the spirit cannot be really free without the ability to forgive. Thus he went back to the pack who he left to teach them about flying.
The more pages that I dove into, I learn more about myself. This book is about love and respect. It is a short book and I think it makes a great gifting book too. You can get it from our NLB for free. I love to hear your book review on it.
