My bet is on consolidation. I don’t see why it should continue slugging it out in isolation. There’s no real benefit to it existing as an independent company. A merger with Didi Kuaidi could make a ton of sense. It’s probably going to happen: Didi was an investor in GrabTaxi’s US$350 million round.
Very likely to be consolidation. The same situation happened in China too. There was a period where there were a mass of taxi booking apps. The larger company with bigger fundings start buying the smaller ones out. In the end, DiDi is the major player left standing. You monopolise the market, you win.
