All the employees got a generous severance package, and we spent a little over a month writing reference letters and helping people get interviews. We put up a special website with everyone’s résumés and links to their portfolios.
Shutting down a company is hard and I think helping your employees to get other jobs is the least the founders SHOULD do to help. Because as founders, you sold your employees a dream ship. They got onboard the ship with you. If the ship is sinking, the first thing I would do is to help my employees get off the ship first and to somewhere safe.
